OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!
A phrase we all know, mostly people would use it to get new products, assets, "boyfriends" or "girlfriends" et al, today I use it for our governments in the African continent. Have you lately seen our parliament houses? Wow! These houses really look like an old age home or some retirement village. Oh where is 'wakanda'? I sometimes miss the land of "Wakanda" where age, race, language and other aspects do not determine your position in the land but, loyalty to the land.
Anyway this is not some review for a movie, I am just concerned by how things happen in the continent of Africa, young people are neglected and not taken into consideration concerning leadership roles in governments, and this I believe I know why.
It all starts at home, neighborhood, community, district, province or county then the country, if at home they can't trust you with some 'serious' responsibilities, how will your community entrust you with community responsibilities or the country's ?
So the youth of Africa realized this and took it upon themselves to be responsible in their actions and partake in community responsibilities to show their loyalty to their communities and country, some dedicated themselves in education while other were determined to just follow their passion and talents which they excelled on, the youth proved themselves to be leaders and influencers however, "guardians of mother Africa" in our parliaments still shook heads and said, "nah, they are not ready, what do they know about the struggle?"
Really? The struggle? What are they implying? That you need to have first went to jail in order to lead a country? really? So currently we are being led by "jail birds", come on, if it was possible, we'd go to jail in order to be leaders of our countries but, the thing is we'll come out with a criminal record which will not afford us even a toilet scrubbing job.
We are in a different era now, just allow those who understand it better lead you in it. All I am saying is, I support young leaders, they are strong, versatile and innovative, to have a prospering continent allow them in governance, you on pension anyway.
